Schmersal has expanded their extensive safety product portfolio with new hygiene command and signalling devices, designed specifically for hygiene-sensitive applications. The new “H” series replaces the “N” range, which has been used globally as the human-machine interface for food processing machinery.

At the core of the new hygiene series’ development were the requirements of ergonomics, safety, and, most importantly, hygienic design, which imposes strict limits on shape geometry. The “H” series offers a variety of switchgear, including potentiometers, lamp indicators, selector switches, master switches, and emergency-stop devices.

Command Device Series Resistant to Dirt and Cleaning Agents

The “H” command and signalling devices feature gap-free transitions between sealing elements and surfaces, with no protruding parts. The components are tightly sealed to withstand high-pressure cleaning and aggressive cleaning agents. Additionally, the front ring is angled to allow liquids, dirt, and cleaning agents to easily run off, enhancing cleanliness and hygiene.

The devices are equipped with high-quality plastic materials for the operating surfaces and stainless-steel front rings, which provide a longer service life due to improved resistance to dirt and aggressive cleaning agents.

Easily Install the “H” Series

The hygiene command devices are distinguished by their special design, featuring a central nut attachment for the device heads and a simple snap-on contact carrier that can support up to six contact elements (including in a piggyback system). This modular design enables quick and efficient installation, as well as maximum flexibility and ideal conditions for pre-wiring. The contact carrier can be easily disassembled using a slotted screwdriver.

Additionally, customers have the option to customize the devices with symbols or company logos through laser engraving.

Wide portfolio to Meet Various Needs

A total of 147 different hygiene command and signalling devices are available, including:

• Mushroom Pushbuttons (with and without latching, with and without illumination, and more),
• Selector Switches with two or three positions, and
• Potentiometer-rotary Switches.

Designers of food-processing machines have the flexibility to choose any type of command device from the “H” series for their HMI design. With its extensive variety of hygienic switchgear devices, the “H” series stands out as unique in the market.
