Laser triangulation sensors Micro-Epsilon

Micro-Epsilon’s optoNCDT 1750 laser triangulation sensors enable you precise and high-speed displacement, distance and position measurements. Benefit from the possibility of simple measurements against a wide range of material surfaces. You will easily use these sensors in demanding industrial applications due to their compact, robust design and different interfaces.

Laser triangulation sensors – even for limited space application

The optoNCDT 1750 laser triangulation sensor has significantly improved performance:

  • 3x higher measurement frequency for fast measurement tasks,
  • 2x higher resolution,
  • Increased linearity by 25%.

Thanks to its compact and robust design with integrated controls, you will now be able to easily build these capabilities into space-constrained systems. This will also facilitate the assembly and wiring process. All models of the optoNCDT 1750 series can also be easily operated with an intuitive web interface and preset programs.

Laser triangulation sensors with the improved operation algorithm

Changing surfaces present a great challenge in optical measurements. Micro-Epsilon has effectively solved this problem with a combination of Real Time Surface Compensation (RTSC) technology and pre-configured SMART programs. The optoNCDT 1750 enables extremely reliable measurements against a wide range of material surfaces, e.g. reflecting surfaces, transparent polymers (plastic) or organic materials.

They further improved the performance of the RTSC algorithm for an advanced exposure time compensation according to the type of surface. The exposure time or the amount of light produced by the laser is optimally matched to the reflection characteristics of the target surface. This enables extremely reliable measurements even on reflecting surfaces.

Laser triangulation sensors’ functionalities

  • Measuring ranges (mm): 2 // 10 // 20 // 50 // 100 // 200 // 500 // 750
  • Linearity from 1.6 µm (±0.06 – 0.09% FSO)
  • Adjustable measuring rate up to 7.5 kHz
  • Analog (4-20 mA; 0-5 V/0 10 V) and digital outputs (RS422/16 bit)
  • Compact size with integrated electronics:
    • 97 x 75 x 30 mm up to 200 mm measuring range
    • 150 x 80 x 35 mm from 500 mm measuring range
  • Real-time adaption to changing surfaces (RTSC)
  • Predefined and individual presets in web interface

Simplify the setting of the laser triangulation sensor

Micro-Epsilon laser sensor configuration

The new web interface simplifies set up and configuration of the laser sensors without requiring any additional operating software. Preset SMART programs are available for numerous targets, such as metals, plastics, or organic materials.

In the web interface, it is possible to set measurement rates up to 7.5 kHz and adjust them individually according to the requirements of each measurement task.

The algorithm for selecting the correct peak of the optical power curve and preventing interference, enables reliable measurements on oily components in the construction of engines and transmissions as well as on coated materials, measurement objects behind glass or on film-sealed components.
